House System
A house system is a common feature of many schools. House systems are traditionally a way of organising students, but also allow for development of a sense of community, developing a strong school ethos and allowing for healthy competition building competitive spirit.
Our houses compete throughout the year on various events and activities. Students can win house points throughout the year. The running total is announced within our weekly celebration assemblies. We also review the winning house for each term in our end of term awards assemblies and then the winning house is awarded the house cup at the end of the year.
At Brookvale, our children voted on what we wanted to name our houses after. We chose, significant people from/associated with Birmingham and the West Midlands. Our four houses are:
- Cadbury
- Lewis
- Phelps
- Zephaniah
All staff and children belong to a house.
